Religion as a choice

I am totally sick and tired of people who, use every opportunity when God is mentioned in any way, to preach their own personal beliefs as if they were an unquestionable fact.
Recently, a family member, who apparently is a believer, announced to the Face book world that she had gotten rid of a bad relationship and was starting anew. She had mentioned how she believed God had helped her to this decision. Fair enough you might say, and I would agree. If she believes this to be the case, its her prerogative and she has every right to voice this any way she desires.
I added a word of encouragement to her, stating that if their is indeed a God, he would undoubtedly be happy that she was making the right decisions to be happy in her life, and would be smiling on her.
This comment was met with indignation from more than one, in my opinion idiots, who took this opportunity to spout a barrage of scriptural quotations and apparent outrage that I would dare to assume that God may not exist..
It is my humble opinion, that we are all born with free will. This has to include the right to choose to either believe in a God or not. Or indeed as some of us do, choose to sit on the fence as we do not to pretend to have the answer. The official title that society label us with is I believe Agnostic.
I would never be pretentious enough, as a mere human being, to assume that I could ever know for a fact that a creator does or doesn't exist. I have, as I am sure many of you have, often stared at the splendour of a night sky in all its glory and wondered how far the universe went, how many suns, planets, Galaxies and perhaps other universes, actually do exist.
The scientists tell us that even with the super telescopes that we have created today, we cannot see even a small fraction of what is out there. The human mind, in not capable of understanding the vastness of space or our minute part in it. So, how can anyone say for absolute certain, as an indisputable fact, that God exists and created it all?
We are all entitled to believe whatever we want, and man has attempted, since we were able to walk and talk, to explain it all.
Many writings on the subject, the Bible, the Koran, the Buddhists writings, Hinduism, Muslim, and on and on, all have theorised on mans creation and the creation of all things.
None of these agree in total and none have given a Universally accepted theory of the "facts" because we simply do not know. We probably never will, unless the day comes that we are all actually called to a judgement, and have that "oh shit" moment. Or perhaps the Roswell aliens will come back and land on the Capitol lawn to explain it all to us, who knows?
In the meantime, please spare me you pious ramblings about the "fact" in your minds, that God is real.
You, my religious fanatic friend, know no more than I do, and your conjecture and judgement of others will always be met by a healthy dose of questioning and some pity towards your narrow minded approach from this blogger.

Welcome to my Blog.
I am an ex Patriot Brit from the beautiful Isle of Guernsey, in the British Channel Islands.
I have lived and worked for the past 23 years here in the U.S.A.
After stints in California, and 13 years as an over the road Trucker, a massive heart attack, on June 6th 2010, has left me retired on a disability pension in Dayton, Ohio, of all places.
I have been married six times. The latest of these to my beautiful wife Charlotte Rainbow, who now shares this adventure called life with me.
Memories, experiences, and challenges that I have experienced have made me, I think, able to pass on some well earned advice to many people when experiencing the game of life and all its many follies.
Obviously, I have loved much and I have lost some.
My dear parents, George and Joan, who are now sadly departed from us, had taught me much during their time on this planet. Many of the quotes and sayings I will repeat here came from my Father's wise, wickedly sarcastic view of the world that I believe only a hard working life in such a unique place in the world as Guernsey, can instill in a man. It will always be a part of who he was, and in turn who I am.
I happily inherited from him, not only his genetically flawed heart genes, but some of that humor and wit he gladly shared with all who would listen during his all too short 69 years on this planet with us.
That is a brief synopsis of what the reader can expect to find if you chose to join me regularly on this forum. I will take situations and occurrences from life, and attempt to approach them with some wisdom, humor, and hopefully good common sense.
I do not fool myself that I can change the world. I do hope to make it a little more understandable.
